Astrology Spotlight: Aries

We will start with Aries, the first sign in the zodiac, to kick of a series of articles focusing on what each sign means when it is your sun, moon, or ascendant sign. Aries is a cardinal sign, a fire sign, and is symbolized by the ram. The color red is most often associated with Aries, and the planet mars is Aries's ruling planet. Understanding what it means to have Aries in one of these important positions in your chart can help you to learn more about yourself and how the position of Aries helped to influence your personality.

Sun:

Sun in Aries inspires independence and courage. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, and as an Aries you likely see yourself as someone who is the first to start new projects, the first to try new things, or the first to step up to lead new endeavors. Sun in Aries also gives a person a certain magnetism, people feel inspired around an Aries, which helps to make people who have the sun in Aries great leaders and public figures. On the other had, a sun in Aries can be fiery and impulsive. Not always thinking things through and quick to anger, an Aries may do things they regret more often then other signs if they are not careful and balanced by their moon/ascendent sign. Nonetheless, an Aries is enthusiastic, forward thinking, and a natural leader.

Moon:

The moon rules over our emotional self, and the position of the moon in our chart helps us to understand more about what makes us most comfortable in our lives, what makes us feel secure, and what triggers our emotions. With the moon in Aries, you find that you are most secure when you are in control of your own life. You are independent, and don't like to be told what to do. You may also find that you are impatient, getting what you desire never really seems to come fast enough. You have the most inner fire of the sun, moon, and ascendent Aries positions and are passionate and forward with you feelings. You handle confrontation well, in fact you almost enjoy confronting the emotional problems in your life, and don't shy away from issues that arise between you and those around you.

Ascendent:

Our ascendent sign helps us to understand what people perceive about us and how we act in the public sphere. When it comes to an ascendant Aries, there isn't much planning ahead. You are prone to acting on instinct and thinking on your feet, both a blessing and, at times, a curse. you are forthright, but not aggressive, your biggest competition in life is yourself. You may find that you are too hard on yourself at times. You are not one to sit idle, you enjoy an active life with lots of interaction with others. You too, like other Aries positions, are independent, but you are willing to find compromise in your relationships with others.

Remember, if you have a sun, moon, or ascendent sign in Aries, this is just a small part of your astrological makeup. These attributes are balanced by your other signs and the positions of the planets in your natal chart, so if some of these qualities don't sound like you, don't fret! The other aspects of your chart are likely at play. However, there is still important insight to be gained from reading deeper into what one of your signs means for you.
